Anonymous asked "what would you say your biggest inspirations are?"

I think for book illustration and fanart, my inspiration tends to mostly be the text or source material. In terms of artists I think chris riddell has always been my favourite, but there are so many I admire - I’ve got an inspiration tag on my personal blog with lots of illustrations/paintings etc. here if yr interested c:

Sorry this reply’s so late - Thanks so much! It was so great meeting cool people who were interested in my work at the zine fest, & it’s always good to get feedback… and to know people actually looked at the business cards, haha. Cheers!

Illustrations for Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein

Frankenstein is possibly my favourite book ever, I love how the flowery prose and heavy romantic influences combine with the gruesome plot. I wanted to draw it a bit differently - giving a very vague, creepy idea of the monster, and mostly focusing in on details and scenery instead - and since I’m also really into fonts and layout, I mocked up the pages with the text and titles.

I think it’s also great that though science fiction can be a disappointingly male-dominated genre, a book that’s often called the first real sci-fi novel was written by a female author.

Me, my work & my dumb business cards were at Glasgow Zine Fest this weekend - made some sales, met lots of great people and got to listen to brilliant music. GOOD DAY. If you want to know more, click here for the zine fest tumblr or here for their facebook page c:

utopiasymposium:

I wanted to contrast a traveller visiting the futuristc city who sees it as a utopia with people from wealthier classes absorbed in their mobile devices, for whom this technology and convenience is standard and the bus is just a transitional space.

I’m doing a drawing project about visions of the future - the cities might change, but the people might not.

Been drawing designs for a futuristic sci fi utopia type sustainable city for this collab project for symposium.
